The software has extremely bad performance on Android. It just lags horribly.[1]
It does everything, and that is bad. The problem is that it offers a myriad of features and productivity tools and is not truly exceptional in any of them. You will quickly get lost among all pages, boards, notifications, etc. It is just too complicated for an average user and provides too much noise. The editing experience is awful.[2]
The software is a subscription. We do not like subscriptions, especially if you have to pay to access your data. With web-based note-taking Notions, you have less control over your data. There is no end-to-end encryption, so the company has access to your notes. There are painful exporting options.[3]
One of the most cited disadvantages of the software is its steep learning curve, particularly for new users. The array of options for databases, templates, and integrations can be overwhelming, leading to a time-consuming and sometimes frustrating setup process.[4]
The offline mode is a constant issue. The software development often "wastes" time implementing features for enterprise/business instead of spending time on other things that users want. People spend ages "designing" the perfect looking dashboard instead of actually using the tool.[5]
