The best alternative to Kantata

I don't like the limitations on setting boundaries on projects. Kantata requires much more manual work than our last CRM in the invoicing and expense categories. There are some things that just don't make sense to me, like having the ability to mark expenses as paid. We've had to create a tracking system outside of Kantata in order to deal with expenses.
